Gaston Chaissac
1910 - 1964
Totem. 1964.
Oil on panel.
Verso signed and inscribed "S0 1127". Height (excl. base): 112.6 cm (44.3 in). Base: 5 cm (1,9 in).
[KA].

• Expressive, playful, fascinating.
• With his imaginatively painted totem sculptures, Chaissac has developed an exciting and unique visual language.
• Part of an important private collection in Berlin for almost 35 years
.

PROVENANCE: Louis Carré & Co, Paris (verso with label).
Galerie Michael Haas, Berlin.
Private collection, Berlin (acquired from the above in 1991).

Beautiful wooden sculpture in good condition. The right, light blue arm is broken off and has been expertly restored. Overall, there are isolated chips in the wood due to the material and manufacturing process, with occasional tiny areas of color loss. There are isolated, tiny to small areas of wear and paint flaking on the upper edge and around the edges, slightly more pronounced in the center left and lower left.
For information concerning the condition, please view the high resolution image / backside image.
