Signed, dated, and illegibly inscribed in the stone, as well as once more signed, numbered, and inscribed “Lithography,” “Portrait of Walter Rheiner,” and with the CR no. “WVZ 149” in pencil. One of 12 copies. On Ingres PMF mold-made paper (with the watermark). 38.5 x 29 cm (15.1 x 11.4 in). Sheet: 62,8 x 48,124,40 x 18,89
The work was drawn with oil-based chalk on smooth paper in 1918. In 1964, it was transferred to stone at the Graphische Werkstätten in East Berlin. Retouched by the artist on the stone. [MH].

PROVENANCE: Private collection, Berlin.

LITERATURE: Gerhart Söhn (ed.), Conrad Felixmüller. Das graphische Werk 1912-1977, Düsseldorf 1987, CR no. 149 (illu., different copy).
