Data Protection Regulations
We attach huge importance to data protection. However, you will appreciate that we naturally have to collect and use data if we are to carry out assignments properly. That is why we have provided you below with full information about which data we collect for what purpose and for how long. When handling your data, we exercise the utmost care and apply the highest safety standards in order to protect it from unauthorised access. You may at any time revoke the permission you have given us to store and process your personal data. On registering to “take part in the auction”, you consent to your personal and general data being collected and used as follows:
Collecting Personal Data
Before you can make a bid with us for items you are interested in, we ask you to register by entering personal and general data (name, address, user name, telephone numbers, email address and suchlike). We record this data during registration, during bidding procedure, and when you make a purchase on winning an auction. This is in order to handle the contract, keep up customer relations and carry out marketing measures.
Using and Disclosing Data
When we are using your data, all your interests that are subject to protection are meticulously safeguarded at all times in accordance with statutory regulations. As early as during registration, you state whether or not you agree until further notice to being sent our latest information and any offers made by our business and by sellers cooperating with us. We use your personal data primarily for handling orders, and insofar as is required for dealing with assignments properly, we are entitled to send this data to third parties as well (e.g. to anyone tendering or delivering items, carriers, banks, government authorities, etc.).
If a credit rating is needed, we are entitled to exchange the necessary data with service providers and with the German credit bureau Schufa. We are also entitled to process and use your personal data in order to keep up the customer relationship with you and to carry out marketing measures (e.g. telephone market research, or sending emails containing general information or advertising, etc.). You may object at any time to having your data used, processed or disclosed for maintaining customer relations and for marketing purposes – simply send a brief written statement by post to: Art Directory GmbH, An den Römerhügeln 1, 82031 Grünwald, or by email to: info@fine-art-auctions.com.
Inspecting & Controlling Data
Using your password, you can inspect your data at any time and update or delete it as required. This can be done at: www.fine-art-auctions.com/edit_data.php.
If ever you forget your password, you can ask at: www.fine-art-auctions.com/forgotpasswd.php to have a new password sent to your email address, and we will do so straightaway.
Using Cookies
We use cookies by way of an identification mark, which is transmitted via your Web browser to your computer’s hard disc. On logging in you enable our computers to identify your user account during your visit (known as a session). Since other ways of identifying sessions involve a risk of outsiders using your session ID for doing operations, cookies have to be activated as long as you are logged in.
