Innen. 1982.
Brass and tin.
The underside bears an inscription, likely made by another hand: “Matschinsky-Denninghoff - ‘Innen’ - 1982”. Unique in this size. Height (without the base): 46.5 cm (18.3 in). Base: 40 x 40 cm (15,7 x 15,7 in).
[AR].
• Unique in this size.
• A larger-than-life version of “Innen” is housed at the Museum Folkwang in Essen.
• Since the 1960s, the artist couple has been leaving their mark on public spaces—both within and outside Europe—with monumental sculptures.
• Formerly owned by the writer Grete Weil.
• Offered on the international auction market for the first time.

PROVENANCE: Grete Weil, Munich (1984).
Private collection, Southern Germany.

LITERATURE: Georg W. Költzsch (ed.), Matschinsky-Denninghoff. Monograph and Catalogue Raisonné of Sculptures, Cologne 1992, CR no. 446 (with b/w ill., p. 425).

In good condition. A few pillars and forms are no longer firmly attached to the base, but the overall structure is stable. Small spots, discoloration, and traces of rust in places. The base is slightly dusty and shows minor dents, chipped paint, and signs of wear.
For information concerning the condition, please view the high resolution image / backside image.
