• Created during his stays on Fehmarn, widely regarded as a central source of inspiration for Kirchner’s artistic development.
• Several paintings were also created on Fehmarn for which this sheet may have served as a preparatory sketch: “Zwei badende Frauen am Strand mit Barke” (1912, Gordon 257) and “Drei Badende am Meer” (1912/20, Gordon 258).
• The motif of bathers and outdoor nudes was among the primary themes of the “Brücke” group.

In good condition. Shows slight creases and a small dent in the upper edge of the image. There is a small tear (approx. 1.5 cm) in the lower right edge of the image. The edges are very slightly browned. Small circular thinning of the paper in the center, as well as very few small brown spots.
