Signed and dated in the lower center. Signed, dated, titled, and inscribed “C 21” on the reverse of the canvas. Inscribed “C 21” again on the stretcher, as well as repeatedly inscribed by another hand. 130 x 162 cm (51.1 x 63.7 in). [EH].

• In this painting, Music addresses his major theme of “Terres adriatiques.”
• Silence is the defining experience in his paintings.
• Exhibited in the Zoran Music retrospective in Paris in 1972.
• First time on the international auction market.
• Participant in documenta I (1955), II (1959), and 6 (1977)

PROVENANCE: Galerie Charpentier, Paris (with remnants of a label on the stretcher).
Galerie Schmücking, Brunswick.
Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia (acquired from the above in 2002, since then in family ownership).

EXHIBITION: Zoran Anton Music, Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Düsseldorf, August 3–September 17, 1967, cat. 36.
Zoran Music: 1946–1972, Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, November 16, 1972–January 10, 1973, cat. no. 46 (handwritten on a stamped label on the stretcher, as well as a handwritten note on the stretcher).

In good condition. Partially with tiny, superficial color discoloration. The condition report was compiled in daylight with the aid of a UV light source and to the best of our knowledge and belief.
