Gustav Kluge
1947
Kontakt zwischen zwei Populationen. 1988.
Mixed media on canvas.
Signd, dated, and titled "K.Z.Z.P." on the reverse. 152 x 200 cm (59.8 x 78.7 in). [JS].

• Painting the emotions of the soul: Kluge is a master of psychologically charged figuration.
• Kluge's series of works “Contact between Two Populations” symbolizes the existential theme of separation and connection through the contrast between black and white and the two intertwining circular shapes.
• In 2012, the Wilhelm Hack Museum in Ludwigshafen presented the major retrospective “Gustav Kluge. Egocinema”
.

PROVENANCE: Galerie Rudolf Zwirner, Cologne.
Private collection North Rhine-Westphalia (acquired from the above in 1990).

In good condition. Due to the manufacturing process, there are isolated small adhesions in the paint and a few tiny holes in the canvas. With isolated faint signs of wear.
For information concerning the condition, please view the high resolution image / backside image.
