The publication provides insight into the artist's work between 1978 and 2015, featuring gouaches, pencil drawings, small- and large-format paintings, and numerous color photographs from Whitney's studio. • The artist's paintings are included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, among others.

• In 2024, the Buffalo AKG Art Museum in Buffalo, New York, will present a first comprehensive retrospective.
