• Very personal work from a series of watercolors created at the “Grüner Baum zum Nachtigall”, an inn near Jena, in March 1908.
• Nolde captured the moment of the cheerful inn atmosphere with a sketchy and spontaneous brushstroke.
• Nolde is one of the most important expressionist painters and a master of the watercolor.
Accompanied by a photo-certificate issued by Dr. Manfred Reuther, Seebüll Ada and Emil Nolde Foundation, dated 6 November 2001. The Academic Advisory Board of the Foundation Seebüll Ada and Emil Nolde has confirmed the inclusion of the work in a future catalogue raisonné of the watercolors and drawings of Emil Nolde (1867-1956).

In good condition. Slight mount staining and slightly faded colors. With a skinned spot on the reverse of the upper left corner, minimally visible on the recto, and a tiny paper damage, which does not impair the fine overall impression.
