• Zimmer succeeds in capturing impressions of landscapes in atmospherically dense, almost abstract landscape structures that resemble the work of Per Kirkeby, who was active at the same time.
• In the series “Übersicht” (Overview), sky and earth are the protagonists that fight a fierce battle over the pictorial surface.
• In 2015, Bernd Zimmer was represented as one of the “Junge Wilde” in the major retrospective exhibition “The 80s” at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt am Main.
• Further works by the artist can be found at, among others, the Berlinische Galerie, Berlin, the Städel Museum, Frankfurt am Main, the Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich, and the Busch-Reisinger Museum / Harvard Art Museum in Cambridge (MA).
