Karl Korab
Karl Korab counts among the most important Austrian artists of the 20th and 21st century. Trained at the Viennese 'Akademie der Bildenden Künste', Karl Korab soon discovered landscapes as his most important subject, to which he dedicated a great degree of commitment. The absolute concentration on the color is characteristic of the Karl Korab's oeuvre, which comprises painting and graphic art, particularly lithographs. Karl Korab composes atmospheric landscapes from the bright colors that he applies to the canvas in broad lines. Geometric formations oscillate in his pictures between figuration and abstraction, often reminding the observer of houses or mountain ranges lined up in front of a distant horizon. The range of his art is completed by portraits and still lifes. Additionally, Karl Korab made material images into which he integrated collage-like elements, thus creating sublime ensembles. Works by Karl Korab have been in the center of numerous exhibitions in renowned galleries in Austria and Germany.
