Jim Dine
The US-American painter, graphic- and object artist Jim Dine is regarded one of the main protagonists of Pop Art.
The artistic roots of Jim Dine, who had come in contact with the circle around the Pop Artists Claes Oldenburg, Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg in New York in 1959, are in Action Painting and Action Art. Jim Dine, who also lived in London for several years, less admired American Pop Art, but rather its English variant, which also had an impact on his oeuvre. Jim Dine's works - graphic art, paintings, object art and particularly the combination of object and painting - show an often jolly coloring and not rarely a heart as the leitmotif. Unlike the anonymized mass production of Pop Art, the individual craftsmanship of Jim Dine are characteristic of his style.
Works by the two-time documenta participants Jim Dine are in possession of numerous renowned museums, among them the British Museum in London, the Hara Museum in Tokyo or the MUMOK in Vienna.
