Jean Miotte
Jean Miotte is regarded one of the founding members and most outstanding representatives of Tachism and Informel.
For Jean Miotte, who was active in numerous painting and printing genres, the painting process is an active process characterized by inner motion. This attitude also makes for the character of Jean Miotte's very own style, which is coined by a particularly strong coloring and an immediate, spontaneous and reflected approach to expressive, abstract forms. The oeuvre from Jean Miotte occupies a mediating position between French Tachism, European Informel and North American Abstract Expressionism. Since the second half of the 1990s, his late work developed towards a stronger spatiality and a reduced coloring.
Numerous international exhibitions honor Jean Miotte; worthwhile mentioning are the exhibitions in Beijing in 1980 or the retrospective in Budapest in 1996.
Jean Miotte died on March 1, 2016.
