• After Kirchner arrived in Switzerland, local life and the impressive natural backdrop inspired him.
• In this work, the artist depicts the mountains around him in an abstract, reduced form.
• The paintings “Bergwaldbäume” (Gordon 530), “Büdner Landschaft” (Kunsthaus Zürich, Gordon 832), and “Berg-Vorfrühling mit Lärchen” (Gordon 719, private collection), which are closely related in terms of motif, were also created during this period.).

Color chalk drawing in good condition. Sheet minimally mount stained. Edges slightly irregular. Some faint color adhesion due to the material. Very isolated faint handling marks. Small crease mark in the lower left corner of the sheet. Verso of the upper corners of the sheet with semicircular residues from a previous mounting, minimally visible on the recto.
