• Max Ackermann is one of the great advocates and pioneers of abstract painting in Germany, to which he devoted himself entirely from the 1950s onwards.
• Shortly after the work was created in 1964, the artist was honorary guest at the Villa Massimo in Rome.
• Works by the artist are at the Folkwang Museum, Essen, the Städel Museum, Frankfurt am Main, and the Pinakothek der Moderne, Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen, Munich.
