Umschlag, Titelblatt und Inhaltsverzeichnis der Mappe "Elf Holzschnitte, 1912-1919, Erich Heckel bei J.B. Neumann". 1921.
Two Woodcuts and the title woodcut (red paper) laminated on the portfolio. Printed by Fritz Voigt, Berlin, and published by J.B. Neumann, Berlin in 1921. Original red half cloth portfolio.
Ebner/Gabelmann 771 H, 772 H. Dube H 328, 329. The table of contents signed, dated and inscribed with the copy number “Mappe 37/40”. The loose title page signed and dated. Both sheets with the printer's signature. From an edition of 40 copies. On wove paper (table of contents with the watermark SASKIA). Each sheet ca. 61 x 51 cm (24 x 20 in). Portfolio: 62,5 x 52,5 cm (24.6 x 20.6 in).
[EH].

In good condition consistent of the age. Slight foxing in places of the wide margins. The table of contents with a somewhat stronger brownish stain in the center of the upper margin. The lower corners of each sheet minimally scuffed, the table of contents with a tiny paper loss and a tiny tear (2mm) in the right margin. The illustrations in clear, strong impression.

The portfolio with signs of wear. The cloth partially broken at the spine. Corners somewhat scuffed. Several superficial paper tears. Two rubbings extend into the image of the title woodcut, where there is a small surface fissure in the center.

Overall, the appearance of this rare portfolio is only slightly impaired by these traces of wear.
