• Alongside Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, Wesselmann is one of the most important representatives of American Pop Art.
• Wesselmann became famous with his series “Great American Nudes” in 1961, which challenged contemporary viewing habits both in terms of technique and motif.
• Wesselmann rose to international fame with his striking, large-format silkscreen prints, which are inspired by contemporary advertising art and usually show female nudes in bright colors.
• The artist's paintings and prints are at, among others, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Tate Modern, London.
