Ina Barfuss
The painter and graphic artist Ina Barfuss counts among the most significant representatives of new figurative art in Germany. Born in Lüneburg, she studied art at the Hamburg 'Hochschule für bildende Künste'.
As far as her style is concerned, her oeuvre of paintings and graphic works is dedicated to a figurative image concept, with which Ina Barfuss depicts people, buildings and landscapes. This figurative notion, however, is accentuated by an expressive and wild stroke of the brush, application of paint and line management, which gives her paintings and graphic works a subversive, urging and stirring character. Her oeuvre also comprises works that were made in co-operation with Thomas Wachweger. Exhibitions of her works in renowned museums like the Dortmund 'Museum am Ostwall' or the New York Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum are proof of Ina Barfuss' international artistic rank.
