Fritz Genkinger Fritz Genkinger - Biography
Fritz Genkinger counts among the most important German contemporary artists. After Fritz Genkinger had initially learned the trade of a toolmaker, he studied painting in Karlsruhe. As a painter he received impulses from various sources for his artistic creation: While he was initially pursuing expressionist style tendencies, the art of Francis Bacons would soon leave behind clear traces in Genkinger's work. However, the most important driving force would be sports, especially football, so that award ceremonies, jersey numbers, balls or goal nets, often in bold sections or in witty combinations, were depicted. This way Fritz Genkinger gave his paintings and graphic works a very own style. Fritz Genkinger's works, which are sought-after collector's items today, have been in the focus of numerous exhibitions.
