Sepp Frank
The artist Sepp Frank was born in the Upper Bavarian town of Miesbach in 1889 under the name Joseph August Frank. Sepp Frank was soon attracted by the big city. He successfully completed studies of art in Munich.
The oeuvre of Sepp Frank is committed to applied arts in many respects. Besides impressions of his numerous journeys, he made glass pictures and puppets, as well as a considerable amount of ex-libris, small graphic labels to indicate the ownership of books. Both the ex-libris as well as the other graphic sheets by Sepp Frank are coined by a figurative concept that makes for a striking imagery with the precisely drawn characters, the sharp chiaroscuro and their great love for the detail. They are charming treasures and thus sought-after collector items.
