Rudolf Hausner
Rudolf Hausner counts among the main representatives of the Vienna School of Phantastic Realism. He was the only artist who was respected by "serious art", for the movement had long been scorned as "kitschy".
The characteristic oeuvre of Rudolf Hausner examines the borders between reality and vision with particularly deep thoughts. In an accuracy that calls reminiscence of the Old Masters and with surreal, dreamlike motifs, Rudolf Hausner's works, whether as paintings, prints or sculptures, seem to be occupied with the question for the 'self' in an universal and archetypal manner. Since 1957 the figure of "Adam Jedermann" has been a leitmotif in his works, it is a mystic being that carries the artist's traits.
Works by Rudolf Hausner, which have already been on display in numerous exhibitions, are in possession of important public collections such as the Belvedere in Vienna and the Museum Folkwang in Essen.
