László Moholy-Nagy László Moholy-Nagy - Biography

László Moholy-Nagy counts among the most innovative representative of avant-garde art of the first half of the 20th century. After László Moholy-Nagy had come to the famous Bauhaus his artistic potential came to full bloom. The versatile artist did not only lead the metal workshop at the Bauhaus, he also experimented with painting , photography and typography and attained ground-breaking results. László Moholy-Nagy's revolutionary, inter-medial creation found impressive manifestation in the "Licht-Raum-Modulator" (1922-1930), which created fascinating, space filling visual sensations. After he emigrated to the USA in 1937, László Moholy-Nagy was to continue his teaching activities up until the end of his life, at first at the "New Bauhaus", later at the "School of Design".
The ground-breaking masterpieces by László Moholy-Nagy can be found in the most renowned museums. They are also still in the focus of large retrospectives, such as the one in the Frankfurt Schirn Kunsthalle in 2009/2010.
