Georg Schrimpf occupies one of the front ranks among the representatives of new objective classicism in Germany. Amazingly, the enormous artistic talent of Georg Schrimpf is entirely auto-didactic, as a young boy he had learned the trade of a confectioner. The striking paintings and graphic works by Georg Schrimpf clearly display his tremendous artistic potential: His landscapes, portrays and still lifes captivate the observer with their contemplative imagery, tender colors and clear line management. They are masterpieces of new objective classicism, which differs from the related verist New Objectivity in terms of the idealization and separation of the individual. Works by Georg Schrimpf, who was always active in the fruitful environment of artist groups such as the "Novembergruppe", are in possession of renowned collections such as the Munich Lenbachhaus.
