5-Year Guaranty

The value of a work of art is determined by various factors. In rare cases, new testing methods or publications can lead to scientific insights that could not even have been anticipated at the time of purchase - in the worst case, the work is worth less than was thought. One of the most famous cases of a fall in value is probably Rembrandt's 'Man in a Gold Helmet', which in 1986 was attributed to one of his students.

In its own special way, Fine Art Auctions tries to take this fact into account. The respective seller gives a 5-year guaranty of authenticity on each item bought from it here, thus providing protection far exceeding the 2-year period laid down by law.

Only reputable auctioneers and art galleries may qualify as partners of Fine Art Auctions. The basic requirement is for them to have been working on the fine art market for at least 10 years. If this preliminary condition is met, Art Directory Service GmbH meticulously checks the applicant's references, its qualifications and other issues, for instance whether it is a member of an auctioneers' association. Specific criteria have to be met for acceptance.

Right of Revocation

If you are a consumer within the meaning of Sect. 13 of the German Civil Code [BGB], you have the right to revoke any item bought through Fine Art Auctions to the respective seller within 14 days after being notified of our Cancellation Policy and receiving the goods. For example simply send an email, letter or fax. You may also use the Sample Cancellation Form contained in the Cancellation Policy.

Safe Handling

We are happy to offer you insured shipping on request. Properly packed, they are immediately dispatched after the purchase has been processed. Our partners' extremely low claims rate proves how carefully and professionally consignment procedure is dealt with.

Possibility of Advance Viewing

All the sellers operating through Fine Art Auctions also offer the possibility of viewing the actual items. The fact that many of the items are at one and the same location makes it easier for interested customers to organise this. At advance viewings, pictures may also of course be taken out of their frames or inspected under ultraviolet light. Experts are there to help you.
